The young man closest to the flag is Noel, on board the USS Keasarge as she steams through the Suez Canal on her way to Iraq. Four months later, in August, the Kearsarge and the Ashland would be fired upon while in the Port of Aqaba, Jordan. Unfortunatley one Jordanian soldier lost his life and another was wounded, thankfully neither ship suffered any injuries.
